Vision
A future where every person facing cancer in the Netherlands receives care that is inclusive, empathetic and compassionate — shaped by their individual needs, regardless of background.
About us
Cancer Support Netherlands is a community-led organisation dedicated to ensuring that no one faces cancer alone. We provide culturally sensitive peer support and advocate for a more inclusive healthcare system — shaped by the lived experiences of those we serve.
We believe that human connection should be at the heart of every cancer journey.
Our vision & mission
A future where every person facing cancer in the Netherlands receives care that is inclusive, empathetic and compassionate — shaped by their individual needs, regardless of background.
To ensure there is human connection at the heart of every cancer journey.
From our founder
Katherine Saville founded Cancer Support Netherlands after facing two diagnoses of HER2-positive breast cancer, including a stage 4 metastatic recurrence. Navigating cancer in a foreign healthcare system showed her how much people need culturally sensitive, community-based support.

Theory of change
By shaping our work through the lived experiences of people affected by cancer — including those from diverse backgrounds — we provide peer-led support, build strong community connections, and advocate for a more inclusive and equitable healthcare system. Through this combined approach, we aim to improve individual wellbeing while driving systemic change.
We also use what our community tells us to help make Dutch cancer care easier to navigate for everyone.
Our Theory of Change sets out the social impact we aim to achieve; and how we plan to measure it. To ensure we're delivering on our mission, we use both qualitative and quantitative research to track progress, capturing personal stories, community feedback, and measurable outcomes that reflect real-world impact.
